Our vision and our values have evolved and grown over time but their origins and their core identity are all centered around a deep passion for the human element of our work.

Founders Heather Wing and Meghan Blanchard uncovered the shared passion for people when they were students in their Manual Therapy physio training in 2009. As their friendship grew, so to did the clarity of their vision. The story took its first  turn toward the remarkable when Meghan and Heather organized a double date. In a stunning twist of fate, that evening became a reunion between their boyfriends—lifelong friends, Andrew and Travis who hadn’t seen each other in years. In the weeks to follow, we quickly recognized that, not only did we have a clear vision, we noticed that collectively, we had a remarkably suitable set of tools, resources and experiences that could set this vision into action and that would have the potential to play a serious role in transforming the community of Barrhaven.

On Monday September 9th, 2019, the doors of Holistic Wellness Physiotherapy opened for the first time. A family owned and operated clinic that was carefully designed to elevate the quality of care provided in each treatment and the centre the human element of our work in everything we do. We took aim a the highest standards in personal attention and in patient experience. Within days, a second turn towards the remarkable... or perhaps unbelievable took place. On a routine Sunday morning we were introduced to Ryan and Gen Morrison. In all of his humility, Ryan mentioned that he was just a physio who just moved to town and was looking for work. What he failed to mention is that he had just left his position as Director of Rehab with the Toronto Maple Leafs in lieu of an opportunity to move home and be closer to family as he and Gen worked to raise their young family. He failed to mention that he was among the most credentialed and experienced young practitioners in the high performance space you'd ever meet.

In the months to follow, Ryan came to value and covet the "care first." culture and the HW Vision. He found himself so aligned in his mindset that he shared his own dream and vision with the team. A dream to bring the resources, best practices and technologies found in the pro sport world to his hometown of Ottawa. A dream to challenge and shape the existing landscape of clinical physiotherapy such that, the quality and efficacy of our care would measure up to the highest standards anywhere.

In hindsight, Ryan's brilliant mind and tenacious pursuit of clinical excellence was the missing piece of a very special company. In the years to follow, our fierce commitment to treating people properly and providing the best possible care has attracted many incredible and likeminded practitioners to partner in the mission ... To support the Ottawa community in becoming increasingly active, healthy and thriving.
